Akrivi, is the Finance Officer of the Company Efshipping Company S.A. which has been operating in the shipping sector for forty years. She started her career in the industry, entering the company after her postgraduate studies at Cardiff University. She started working for the founder of the company and continues with the second generation of the founder’s family.

She is experienced in bank loan evaluation, shipping market analysis, financial reports, cash flow, budgeting, and Sale and Purchase projects for second hand and new buildings in the bulk carrier and container sector due to her involvement in company’s fleet renewal and development. She is member of the Board of Directors of the vessels’ owning companies and other companies of the group. She has been involved in the implementation of other than shipping projects, in the area of energy and agriculture, diversified companies of the family. She is also the Business Consulting Manager for a company operating by the family in the area of agricultural products.

She holds a MSc degree in International Transport from the University of Cardiff, UK and a BSc in Business Administration from the American College of Greece. She holds a Certificate in Vessel Valuation from the Lloyd’s Maritime Academy and a Professional Maritime Diploma in Economics from the Hellenic Management Center in cooperation with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. She has attended a series of seminars in Finance, Sale and Purchase, Chartering, Insurance and postgraduate courses in Finance from the University of Strathclyde

The role of the Education Team is to research, suggest, develop, administrate  and evaluate programmes and courses.

Nikos has more than 25 years working experience involvement in logistics & Supply chain management projects either as Logistics Manager or as supply chain Consultant, supply chain expertise focuses in retailing, pharmaceutical & transport industries and companies both multinational & national.
As a consultant the projects he has been involved in pharma/medical device and in retailing industry. As Director in a pharmaceutical company he has led Operations in Greece and Turkey with high expertise in Home patient Deliveries.. Currently he leads as supply chain Infrastructure and VIP for Easter Central Europe Middle East and Africa .
Instructor and developer in supply chain operations and Shipping logistics. Since 1997 he has given lectures to more than 2000 managers, which in total lecturing has sum up to 1400 hrs.

Silvina Bakardzhieva is a maritime lawyer with expertise in EU Law, International Maritime Law and Port policies. Since 2008 she has been working as Senior Legal Adviser at Bulgarian Maritime Administration.

Silvina has obtained her LLM/LLB from the Technical University, Varna (Bulgaria), Master 1 – Qualification Juriste from Université d’Artois (France), LLM in International Maritime Law from the IMLI – IMO (Malta). She has also participated in a number of sessions and updates for her profession at different parts of the world.

Silvina is a member of the Seafarers’ Trade Union (ITF) in Varna, the External Experts Database of Frontex, IAPH, IHMA, BIILC, ESIL, ASIL, WISTA, WIOMSA, WMUWA, IMarEST, CAS, ICCA, the Russian Arbitration Association, the International Association of the Law of the Sea, EAPIL, AWIMA, the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology as well as Working Groups at EU level.

Despina is a Marine Insurance executive specializing in H&M, IV, War Risks, Kidnap & Ransom and ancillary (LOH, MII, CII etc.) covers. She is the head of the H&M department of Aries Marine Insurance Brokers and was part of the executive team who started with the company in 2009.
She was fortunate to combine her academic studies with work experience and has now been in the marine insurance business for almost 20 years working with well-established insurance companies and brokers internationally.
She has gained first-class experience in all aspects of Marine insurance working as Documentation Technician, Underwriting Assistant and Account Executive.
She was also one of the first professionals in the industry to gain insight into maritime security in conjunction with associated Marine Insurance, and an expert in the management of contract, insurance and legal related compliance issues.

Professor Michael Roe is a globally recognised research leader in the area of maritime and logistics policy and governance with a particular interest in the cross-disciplinary relationship between globalisation, international governance and the maritime sector. This interest has emerged from earlier work which focused upon shipping and ports policy-making in the European Union and across the Soviet dominated Eastern Europe.

Professor Roe has close links with a number of global institutions (the United Nations, OECD and World Trade Organisation) and a range of national policy-making bodies including those in China, Greece, Hong Kong, Poland, Sweden and Turkey. Recent publications have included a major new book on maritime governance and policy-making which examines the relationship between policy failure in shipping and the role of the industry in manipulating globalised governance inadequacies. Work continues on modelling the nature of policy-making in shipping with a focus on moving the current framework from those dominated by structure to process-based policies.

Professor Roe, is also loeading the Diploma in Maritime Business.
