Ms Yasmine Elessawy is a marine surveyor based in London with more than 20 years of professional experience in the maritime industry. She holds a B.Eng. (Hons) in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture from the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, and an MSc in Global Sustainable Development from the University of Plymouth (UK). Her professional background spans shipbuilding, ship design, marine surveying, and maritime safety, giving her extensive technical knowledge of vessel construction, inspection, and regulatory compliance.
Yasmine is a highly skilled surveyor known for her strong technical expertise and attention to detail. She is also an experienced naval architect, with up-to-date knowledge of modern ship design software and shipyard practices. Alongside her professional career, she has been actively involved in teaching and training, having lectured at the Faculty of Engineering and delivered educational sessions in collaboration with charitable organisations. Her teaching experience, combined with hands-on maritime industry work, enables her to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible way. She has also contributed to maritime training and consultancy activities focused on marine safety, human-element factors, and sustainable maritime development.
Yasmine is considered a pioneer and role model in the maritime sector in Egypt. In 2016, the national newspaper Al-Ahram published an article recognising her as the first Egyptian female marine surveyor, highlighting her contribution to advancing women’s participation in the maritime industry.
