Professor Derkach is a distinguished legal scholar with extensive experience in constitutional, international, and business law. She is currently a Professor at Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, where she teaches in the Department of Constitutional, International, and Criminal Law, as well as the Department of Business Law. Jane holds a Doctor of Law degree and has been actively involved in academia since 2006, progressing from Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor and eventually to her current role. She has also been a participant in international academic projects such as the TEMPUS Project.

Ella’s educational background is impressive, with a Master of Law and PhD from Donetsk National University and additional certifications from prestigious institutions such as the British Council (IELTS B2), TESOL Training International (Advanced TESOL Certificate), and Leiden University (International Law). She has continued to expand her knowledge through professional development courses in corporate, commercial, and international law, as well as participating in logistics and trade-related training. We were honroured to have Ella on the WMA Advance Certificate in Maritime Business, the Mareva course, further enhancing her expertise in maritime law and shipping operations.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Jane has authored over 80 scientific articles and papers, contributing to both Ukrainian and international conferences. She is a member of several professional associations, including the Ukrainian Bar Association, and serves on the editorial boards of international legal and economic journals. Her research interests focus on international law, EU law, business law, and transport law.
