Michael started his career at sea within the fishing industry based in Cape Town South Africa, once he decided to turn his sights onto the merchant fleet he completed his Maritime studies and started his cadet ship on Tankers where he sailed as cadet and then junior officer. He then joined the offshore towage and Salvage sector as Chief Officer and then Master. He continued his journey by sailing on the Ocean towage and salvage tug as well as offshore AHTS vessel. He had the privilege to have been involved in many of the large salvage operations both ashore and at sea. He decided a change was required and joined an Offshore Mining company where he sailed as chief officer to further develop his knowledge and growth. He then stepped a shore and have been the project lead for the review and rewrite of Safety management systems in compliance with the ISM code. For the past few years he has been actively involved in leadership training and research in alignment with obtaining additional academic qualifications.
