Snapshot in MLC 2006 for Ship Chandlers

Regulatory Essentials for Ship Chandlers in collaboration with the International Ship Suppliers & Services Association (ISSA) training courses
ISSA EXLCUSIVE TRAINING
Course Description
A focused short course on the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 and what it means, in practical terms, for anyone supplying provisions and stores to vessels. Participants examine the MLC provisions most relevant to ship supply, the welfare obligations that flow down to suppliers, and real-world examples of what happens when provisioning falls short of MLC requirements.
Note:
Our pre-recorded seminars are the ideal solution for delivering high-quality training to members across the globe. Designed for maximum flexibility, they allow participants to learn at their own pace, anytime and from anywhere. Each session is carefully prepared to ensure clarity, consistency, and professional delivery—providing a reliable, self-paced learning experience without compromising on quality. This format guarantees equal access for all members, making it the most effective and inclusive way to build knowledge and skills worldwide.
Why Attend
- MLC 2006 deficiencies tied to food, water, and provisions are a recurring cause of Port State Control detentions and disputes between chandlers and vessel owners.
- You will leave with a clear, working understanding of supplier responsibilities under MLC — without needing to read the convention text itself.
- Ideal for operations staff, account managers, and business owners who need working knowledge fast, not a full legal deep-dive.
Want the Full Picture?
This short course is drawn directly from the comprehensive seminar "Crash Course in MLC 2006 – CODEX – Customs & Sanctions Compliance for Ship Chandlers". If you want the complete picture — all four regulatory areas (MLC 2006, CODEX Alimentarius, customs law, and sanctions), plus the introductory and practical compliance-tools sessions, plus the advanced, cross-topic case study module — you can enrol in the Full Course instead of, or in addition to, this short course.
By the end of this short seminar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the main provisions of MLC 2006 that are relevant to ship chandlers.
- Identify crew welfare requirements and the supplier's role in meeting them.
- Recognize common MLC-related supply issues before they become Port State Control deficiencies.
- Apply a practical checklist to reduce MLC-related compliance risk in daily operations.
